香港科技大學（科大）今日（九月一日）舉辦開學嘉年華「Fire Up Your Year」，校長葉玉如教授聯同一眾管理層、教職員和校友，與學生一同獻唱校歌，又大玩互動問答遊戲兼送上豐富禮品，與新生及從各地回來上課的莘莘學子，喜迎新學年。其中，校董會成員兼大學評議會主席曾建中先生更在科大校友攤位前，向同學派發雪糕，在新學年伊始添上一絲甜意。
科大上周五亦為本學年秋季學期迎來了破紀錄的逾550名國際交換生，舉辦了一系列迎新活動和校園導覽，加深他們對科大的認識。這些國際交換生當中，有超過六成同學來自歐洲，其餘分別來自亞洲、美洲和大洋洲的國家或地區。
