HKUST Kicks off New Academic Year with Vibrant "Fire Up Your Year" Carnival (Chinese Version Only)
香港科技大學（科大）今日（九月一日）舉辦開學嘉年華「Fire Up Your Year」，校長葉玉如教授聯同一眾管理層、教職員和校友，與學生一同獻唱校歌，又大玩互動問答遊戲兼送上豐富禮品，與新生及從各地回來上課的莘莘學子，喜迎新學年。其中，校董會成員兼大學評議會主席曾建中先生更在科大校友攤位前，向同學派發雪糕，在新學年伊始添上一絲甜意。
科大上周五亦為本學年秋季學期迎來了破紀錄的逾550名國際交換生，舉辦了一系列迎新活動和校園導覽，加深他們對科大的認識。這些國際交換生當中，有超過六成同學來自歐洲，其餘分別來自亞洲、美洲和大洋洲的國家或地區。
葉玉如校長於開學日致辭中，熱烈歡迎新一屆加入的同學，並勉勵所有學生、教職員和校友繼續秉持科大「凡事皆可為」的核心價值，勇於探索。她說：「新學年充滿著無限可能，我鼓勵大家抱持好奇心與實幹精神，專注學習之餘，亦走訪校園的不同角落，發掘自己的興趣，體驗非凡的機遇，勇於智闖，並結識能相隨一生的良師摯友。」
葉校長又指，同學在成長過程中難免會遇到挑戰，鼓勵大家把每個障礙視為讓自己成長的機會。她感謝眾多校友專程返回母校，在開學日為新生打氣；她更勉勵同學按自己的步伐成長，科大社群將成為他們堅實的後盾。
主辦開學嘉年華的環球事務及傳訊處和學務長辦公室亦邀請了一眾科大同學，呈獻無伴奏合唱及跳舞表演，並於校園設置攤位，與眾同樂。

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) today extended its warmest congratulations to the nation and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) for the exceptional performance in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) 2025 Global Innovation Index (GII).
Prof. Charles NG Wang-Wai, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement and Chair Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has received three distinguished awards: the Telford Gold Medal from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) in London, the Donald Stanley Award from the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, and the Scott Sloan Best Paper Award from Computers and Geotechnics. 國家科學技術部（科技部）部長陰和俊日前率代表團訪問香港科技大學（科大），深入考察科大在前沿科研領域的最新突破與人才培養成果。科大校董會主席沈向洋教授、校長葉玉如教授與大學管理層及科研團隊熱情接待。
陰和俊部長日前於香港特區政府總部舉行的在港全國重點實驗室授牌儀式上，向科大頒授三個全國重點實驗室牌匾，包括兩所重組後更名的「神經系統疾病全國重點實驗室」與「顯示與光電子全國重點實驗室」，以及一所與香港理工大學（理大）合作新建的「沿海城市氣候韌性全國重點實驗室」。
陰和俊部長於授牌儀式當天的下午考察科大。訪問期間，陰和俊部長對科大在科研方面取得的卓越成就予以高度肯定，並讚揚科大辦學理念具有國際視野、創業精神與創新思維。他指出，科大建校僅三十多年，已迅速發展成為世界頂尖大學之一，彙聚眾多頂尖科學家，培養大批傑出人才，產出多項重大科研成果，緊密契合國家戰略與經濟社會發展需求。
