HKUST Receives HK$40 Million from Seal of Love Charitable Foundation
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) received a HK$40 million donation from Seal of Love Charitable Foundation (Foundation).  The gift is set to empower HKUST students in solving real-world problems with innovative thinking and technology know-how, and to deliver social impact with tangible solutions in resource-limited communities. The generous gift from the Foundation – a charitable organization dedicated to helping others with projects mostly focused on supporting education and the underprivileged in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia – will be used to set up an endowment fund called the “Seal of Love Foundation Student Innovative Service Fund” (Fund).  In appreciation of the Foundation’s benevolent support, the University has named a wing of its semi-circular Academic Building “Seal of Love Charitable Foundation Wing”.

Gift of 500M from LKSF to Set Up Hong Kong’s First Institute of Synthetic Biology in HKUST
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) received a HK$500 million donation from Li Ka Shing Foundation (LKSF) yesterday for the establishment of Hong Kong’s first institute of synthetic biology – a best-in-class research platform focuses on synthetic biological technologies.   The new academic and research building of the “Li Ka Shing Institute of Synthetic Biology” (The Institute) will provide the most advanced facilities, aiming to attract the world’s top scholars in a move to steer Hong Kong into a global pioneer in synthetic bio-technologies.

HKUST Receives HK$5 Million Donation from Tin Ka Ping Foundation in Support of Research Development and Exchange of Talents
Following a HK$3 million donation from the Tin Ka Ping Foundation (Foundation) last year in support of the development of gifted education at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), HKUST received yet another donation of HK$5 million today from the Foundation for "Tin Ka Ping Education Fund" (the Fund) - a permanent fund for the University’s Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) to promote research development and exchange of young scholars between Hong Kong and the Mainland.  Set up in 2008, the Fund has sponsored six young and potential mainland scholars from Mainland China to assist IAS professors in research and teaching work. After the latest addition, the Fund’s principal will be amounted to HK$11 million.

HKUST Receives HK$100 Million Donation from Yuexiu for the University’s Development and Sponsorship on HKUST’s One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition National Grand Final
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held the “Yuexiu Group Donation Presentation cum HKUST-Yuexiu Group One Million Dollar International Entrepreneurship Competition Grand Final Sponsorship Ceremony” today, to express its gratitude for a HK$100 million donation made by Yuexiu Group (Yuexiu) in support of the University’s efforts in research, innovation and talent grooming.  The group will also provide HKUST with a RMB10 million sponsorship for the cultivation of quality entrepreneurial projects in Guangzhou and Hong Kong, in order to enhance the concerted efforts of knowledge transfer in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

HKUST Receives HK$150 million Donation from Shaw Foundation And Celebrates Groundbreaking of Shaw Auditorium
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) celebrated today the groundbreaking of its multi-purpose auditorium – a new landmark of the University not only allows hosting of large events, but also adds much needed space for teaching and cultural activities that will enrich the lifestyle and learning experience of students, staff and alumni. The construction of the multi-purpose auditorium is made possible with a generous donation of HK$150 million from Shaw Foundation Hong Kong. Since the founding of HKUST, the lack of a venue for large-scale events such as the congregation or arts and music performances has caused inconvenience to our community.

Opening of Karen Lee Student Mentoring Center to Foster Supportive Culture
School of Business and Management of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST Business School) celebrated the opening of the Karen Lee Student Mentoring Center (“Center”), which is purpose-designed for student mentoring activities and promoting a supportive and caring culture on campus. The Center is named after the late Dr. Karen LEE, a visiting scholar and later an Adjunct Associate Professor who was a faculty member at the HKUST Business School between 2008 and 2014. A beloved and dedicated member of the School, Dr. Lee actively involved in developing undergraduate student skills and recognized the value of mentoring in helping them identify their personal and professional goals.

Opening of Tsang Shiu Tim Sports Center Promotes Holistic Education
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) celebrated the opening of a brand new Tsang Shiu Tim Sports Center (“Center”), named after Tsang Shiu Tim Charitable Foundation (Foundation) for a HK$30 million donation that aims to promote holistic education at HKUST. Mr. TSANG Kai-Ching, representative of the Tsang Shiu Tim Charitable Foundation, said in the Center’s opening ceremony that he hoped HKUST could build an even stronger sports culture to unleash innovation spirit, “A decade ago, the Tsang Shiu Tim family supported HKUST and named its arts hall. I am proud to see that now we are able to contribute to both aesthetic and athletic life of the community at HKUST.  The modern age demands students with a healthy mind in a healthy body. I hope we could help nurture sportsmanship in HKUST, and make it a complete university of excellence.”

HKUST Receives HK$200 Million Donation from Guangdong Bright Dream Robotics to Foster Research and Education in Robotics and AI
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) received a HK$200 million donation from Guangdong Bright Dream Robotics to enrich the University’s work in talent development and research innovation, with focus on areas including robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), smart cities and big data. The magnanimous gift of Guangdong Bright Dream Robotics - a wholly-owned subsidiary of Country Garden Holdings Company Limited - will be used to sponsor a professorship and a scholarship program among other causes.  The donation will allow HKUST to step up efforts in advancing research and nurturing talents, thus supporting the transition of Hong Kong and Mainland into a knowledge-based economy through the development in innovation and technology.
