HKUST School of Engineering Announces Inauguration of New Engineering Commons
The School of Engineering (SENG) of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology today inaugurated its state-of-the-art Engineering Commons, a student-centered space to promote total learning experience. Dean of Engineering Prof Khaled Ben Letaief said, "The opening of the Engineering Commons marks an important milestone for the School of Engineering in our continuous effort to nurture and empower our students. This custom-designed space will not only serve as a hub for student advising, collaborative learning and knowledge exchange, but also as a platform to inspire creative ideas as well as showcase the School's latest inventions and technologies."

HKUST Receives a Donation from Dr Ko Pui-shuen for Library's Special Collections Gallery and University Archives
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) received a three million donation from Dr Ko Pui-shuen, Chairman of Kingrich Asia Holdings Limited for the Library's Special Collections Gallery and University Archives project. In honor of Dr Ko's generosity, the Library is naming its Archives and Special Collections Reading Room as ‘Hong Kong Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce Ko Pui Shuen Gallery.

HKUST Announces Named Professorship Program
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is conferring Named Professorships to a selected number of distinguished faculty under the aegis of the HKUST Named Professorship Program, a university-wide scheme intended to foster areas of academic excellence and honor outstanding faculty members in the University. HKUST Kicks off Hong Kong's Novel Sewage Treatment Technology Trial Run Securing the Biggest Sponsorship with Five International Awards
A research team from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) led by Prof Guanghao Chen of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has leveraged Hong Kong's unique seawater flushing system to develop a novel, energy-efficient and low carbon sewage treatment technology. A large-scale trial run of the 'Sulphate reduction, Autotrophic denitrification and Nitrification Integrated (SANI) Process' will soon be going in full swing under the joint sponsorship of the Drainage Services Department, the Innovation & Technology Fund and others which pitched in HK$24.6 million, the biggest sponsorship for a local single environmental project.

HKUST Holds its 20th Congregation Conferring Honorary Doctorates on Five Distinguished Academics and Leaders
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held its 20th Congregation today (16 November) and conferred honorary doctorates on five eminent academics and community leaders. Chairman of University Council Dr Marvin K T Cheung, GBS, JP, presided over today's ceremony. HKUST's honorary doctorates are awarded to five outstanding individuals in recognition of their distinguished achievements and contributions. This year's recipients are (in alphabetical order): Sir Michael ATIYAH, Honorary Professor at the University of Edinburgh - Doctor of Science Prof Yuk-Shee CHAN, SBS, JP, President of Lingnan University - Doctor of Laws Prof Justin Yifu LIN, Honorary Dean of the National School of Development at Peking University - Doctor of Social Sciences

HKUST Names Learning Commons After Chevalier Group
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) received a $20 million donation for the university's development from Dr Chow Yei Ching, GBS, Chairman of Chevalier International Holdings Limited. In appreciation of Dr Chow's generosity, the University has named the Learning Commons in the Library as "Chevalier Learning Commons" at an earlier ceremony. As a world-class research university dedicated to excellence and innovation in education and research, HKUST has been proactive in strengthening its teaching and research facilities and driving internationalization, so as to create a stimulating environment necessary for inspiring creativity and nurturing future world leaders.

HKUST Receives Donations from Tanoto Foundation and Mr James E Thompson To Boost Study on Asian Family Business and International Business Related Cases
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) received donations from Mr Sukanto Tanoto, Chairman of RGE Group and the Founder of Tanoto Foundation and Mr James E Thompson, Founder and Chairman of Crown Worldwide Group, to boost the study on Asian family business, entrepreneurship and business cases.
