HKUST Confers Honorary Fellowships on Four Distinguished Leaders
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held its annual ceremony for the award of Honorary Fellowships today. Officiating at the ceremony were Mr Martin Y Tang, Vice-Chairman of HKUST Council, and Prof Tony F Chan, President of HKUST. Four distinguished leaders awarded the 2014 Honorary Fellowships were Dr Winnie Ko Pui-shuen, Mr Ron McEachern, The Hon Abraham Shek Lai-him and Dr David Sin Wai-kin. HKUST Presents Common Core Course Excellence Award
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held the Second Common Core Course Excellence Award Presentation Ceremony today, officiated by President Prof Tony F Chan. HKUST established the Common Core Course Excellence Award last year to recognize outstanding courses and to enhance balanced and holistic education. This year's Excellence Award went to "Technology and Innovation: Social and Business Perspectives" taught by Assistant Professor Yongsuk Kim, Adjunct Professor Jeevan Jaisingh, Visiting Professor Sejoon Hong and Mr Himson Wu from the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management. With its well-planned pedagogy, the course enables students to grasp the abstract concept of innovation and apply it in the real world through different kinds of in-class exercises such as case studies and simulated experience, followed by reflection and experience-sharing via class discussion.

Lenovo Founder Mr Chuanzhi Liu Analyzes China's Latest Manufacturing Growth at UC RUSAL President's Forum
UC RUSAL (SEHK: 486, Euronext: RUSAL/RUAL, Moscow Exchange: RUALR/RUALRS), a leading global aluminum producer, and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted the UC RUSAL President's Forum today, featuring Mr Chuanzhi Liu, Chairman of Legend Holdings Corporation (Legend Holdings) and Founder and Honorary Chairman of Lenovo. This is the first time Mr Liu gave a speech at an educational institution in Hong Kong. The talk was well attended by students, faculty members and guests from HKUST. At the Forum, hosted by Prof Tony F Chan, President of HKUST, Mr Liu shared his insights on "The Growth of China's Manufacturers - Talking about Legend".

Lenovo Founder Mr Chuanzhi Liu To Speak On China's Manufacturing Growth at UC RUSAL President's Forum
UC RUSAL (SEHK: 486, Euronext: RUSAL/RUAL, Moscow Exchange: RUALR/RUALRS), a leading global aluminum producer, and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have invited Mr Chuanzhi Liu, Chairman of Legend Holdings Corporation (Legend Holdings) and Founder and Honorary Chairman of Lenovo, to speak at the UC RUSAL President's Forum on 27 March 2014. This is the first time Mr Liu will give a speech at an educational institution in Hong Kong. The forum will be hosted by Prof Tony F Chan, President of HKUST. Opening of HKUST Energy Institute to Fuel Fresh Solutions to Sustainable Future
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) today celebrated the opening of the HKUST Energy Institute, and the Institute's first forum on sustainable energy. The forum featured 16 leading scientists and energy experts from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Japan and the United States, who spoke on some of the world's most pressing energy issues. The establishment of the Institute manifests HKUST's commitment to securing an affordable, reliable and sustainable energy future. The Institute is dedicated to providing a multi-disciplinary platform for fostering energy-related research and curricular programs that gather talent, coalitions and partnerships from across HKUST and beyond.

HKUST Presents Long Service Awards 2014
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) today held its 5th Long Service Award Presentation Ceremony, honoring faculty and staff members who have served the University for 20 years. HKUST established the Long Service Award to express appreciation and to recognize long-serving faculty and staff members whose hard work and dedication have contributed to the University's rapid rise over the past 23 years. This year, HKUST presented awards to 240 members who joined the University in 1994. HKUST President Prof Tony F Chan, together with the vice-presidents, deans, units heads and directors attended the presentation ceremony. Awardees' families and friends were also invited to join the occasion by the University.
