Supporting the World Mental Health Day: Mental Health Matters - Promoting Student Mental Health: A State of Well-being
This event serves to support the World Mental Health Day (10 Oct) observed by World Health Organization (WHO). We aim at moving forward to build a connected and united HKUST campus among different stakeholders, to arouse awareness on psychological well-being, and to de-stigmatize the sick role of seeking psychological counseling or treatment when needed.

With the launch of the new theme "LEADING WITHOUT BOUNDARIES", Interdisciplinary Programs Office, IPO, organises the Instagram Photo Contest. We believe that youngster should break through traditional boundaries to pursue their dreams, and IPO, as an education pioneer, will provide tremendous support to our students to achieve their goals. There should be no limitations in learning, experiencing and exploring. Through this photo contest, we encourage everyone to explore and share "without boundaries" happy moments in daily life!

Leading Experts from China, Hong Kong and the World Share Insights on Smart Cities at HKUST’s First Symposium
The GREAT Smart Cities Center of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted its Inaugural Symposium of GREAT Smart Cities today (Friday), providing a distinguished platform for experts from Mainland China, Hong Kong and the rest of the world to share information and ideas on the development of smart cities.
GREAT is an acronym for Green, Resilient, Empowering, Adaptable, and Transformative.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Prof Wei Shyy, Acting President, HKUST; Prof Tim Cheng, Dean of Engineering, HKUST; and Prof Christine Loh, former Under Secretary for the Environment of HKSAR Government, and Chief Development Strategist of the Division of Environment and Sustainability, HKUST. Prof Hong K Lo, Director of GREAT Smart Cities Center, introduced the Center to the audience.

LOVE1010 is a brand new initiative by the Counseling and Wellness Center this year and will be made available annually with different essential topics that students would need in developing intimate relationships, which is often not covered in school curriculum.

HKUST Hosts Women in Innovation Forum “Challenges vs Chances” to Celebrate International Women’s Day
As a university that strives to groom students’ individuality and holistic development through gender parity and diversity, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) launched a series of events under the theme #itsME in celebration of the International Women’s Day, leveraging the opportunity to reinforce the message that gender should not be a hindrance factor for one’s development.
A highlight of the events held today was the Women in Innovation Forum. Entitled “Challenges vs Chances”, entrepreneurs, leaders from business, technology and education as well as students discussed topics spanning gender stereotypes in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), the qualities required of women to thrive in a male-dominated environment, and challenges women face in STEM and business fields.
