Building Bridges of Collaboration with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) was honored to welcome H.E. Hussain bin Ibrahim Al HAMMADI, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to China, and his delegation to the campus on January 22.
The Ambassador and his delegation were warmly received by Prof. Nancy IP, President of HKUST, as they engaged in a dynamic meeting led by Provost Prof. GUO Yike. The discussion explored a wide range of opportunities to enhance collaboration and foster stronger bonds between the UAE and HKUST.
The delegation then witnessed firsthand the pioneering research and state-of-the-art facilities at the Cheng Kar-Shun Robotics Institute and the Aerodynamics and Acoustics Facility, guided by our Faculty experts Prof. ZHANG Fumin and Prof. ZHANG Xin respectively.

HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP to Attend “Winter Davos”
Prof. Nancy IP, President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is set to attend the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Switzerland from January 17 to 19, 2024. As the only university head from Hong Kong at the "Winter Davos", she will share insights with esteemed leaders from around the world on various critical international issues, including aging population and climate change.
Convening under the theme “Rebuilding Trust”, the Annual Meeting 2024 will bring together over 2,800 distinguished global leaders from 120 countries, including LI Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China; Emmanuel MACRON, French President; Ursula von der LEYEN, President of the European Commission; and Antony John BLINKEN, US Secretary of State.

HKUST and Imperial College London Deepen Ties with Strategic Research Collaboration
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted a delegation from Imperial College London, led by President, Professor Hugh BRADY, on January 12. Building on the previous meeting between the two universities in London last October, this visit allowed for further discussions on strategic collaborations in academic advancement and research innovation.
Following the leadership meeting hosted by HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP, the delegation visited the Biosciences Central Research Facility and the Hong Kong Generative AI Research and Development Center on campus. These visits showcased HKUST's cutting-edge equipment in biotechnological research and GenAI technology.
HKUST is committed to forging partnerships with renowned institutions worldwide to advance research and academic endeavors on a global scale.

HKUST Hosts AUA Youth Forum to Build a Sustainable Future
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) Youth Forum 2024 as the Executive Presidency of AUA for 2023-2024. This 7-day forum, held from January 6-12, centered on the theme “Building a Better Future: Inspiring Youth for Sustainable Habitat”, brought together 45 students from 14 renowned AUA member universities across Asia to delve into the challenges, opportunities, and actions required for creating a sustainable future.

HKUST Embraces the Power of Philanthropy with CEO of the Fondation de France
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted a visit from the Fondation de France (FDF), led by Mrs. Axelle DAVEZAC, CEO of the organization, along with Mr. Frédéric THÉRET, Director of Marketing and Development, and Mr. Julien-Loic GARIN, Director of Fondation de France Asia. FDF, the largest philanthropic organization in France, is dedicated to nurturing private philanthropy and foundations. The organization unites donors, founders, and volunteers to support an impressive 8,000 charitable causes each year.

HKUST, CityU, CUHK and PolyU Co-organize Hong Kong Partners Week to Promote Study in Hong Kong
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), City University of Hong Kong (CityU), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) recently welcomed representatives from 38 university partners to promote study in Hong Kong and strengthen bonds with overseas universities.
The senior management and faculty members of the four universities greeted their global university partners from Australia, Austria, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, the UK, and the USA earlier this month, introducing them Hong Kong’s attractiveness as a destination for international exchange students, the city’s strengths and opportunities and the campuses’ world-class research and student facilities.

HKUST Hosts Visits from the University of Toronto and the University of New South Wales
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) successfully hosted visits from two institutional partners, the University of Toronto from Canada and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) from Australia, on December 12.
Delegations from the University of Toronto, led by Prof. Joseph WONG, Vice-President of International Partnerships and Prof. Alex MIHAILIDIS, Associate Vice-President of International Partnerships, had a meeting with HKUST faculty including Prof. CHAN Che-Ting, Associate Vice-President for Research and Development (Research), Prof. WONG Yung-Hou, Dean of Science, and Prof. Bert SHI, Special Advisor to the Vice-President for Research and Development. The discussions focused on enhancing student mobility, faculty exchange, and joint research projects in key strategic areas such as healthcare and sustainability.

HKUST Welcomes Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to China
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) was honored to welcome H.E. Dr. Jae-Ho CHUNG, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to China, and his delegation to our campus on December 1. Dr. Chung has a significant affiliation with HKUST, as he has been a respected scholar and notable former faculty member of the Division of Social Science.
Accompanied by Prof. Kellee TSAI, Dean of Humanities and Social Science, Dr. Chung toured our state-of-the-art library and the School of Humanities and Social Science. Additionally, he engaged in a dynamic dialogue session with our Korean students and faculty members, sharing his unique insights from his remarkable career and gathering feedback from the Korean community on campus.
