HKUST Welcomes Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) welcomed Mr. Almas SEITAKYNOV, Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong and Macau, for his inaugural visit to the campus. This visit highlights HKUST's dedication to global outreach, as well as its ongoing efforts to bridge cultures.
CG Almas engaged in a productive discussion with HKUST management and faculty members, including Prof. WANG Yang, HKUST Vice-President for Institutional Advancement; Prof. Emily NASON, Director of Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions Office; Prof. Naubahar SHARIF, Acting Head and Professor of the Division of Public Policy; and Ms. Yvonne LI, Head of Global Engagement and Greater China Affairs. The topics covered ranged from student mobility and talent development to fostering academic collaborations.

Aspiring Entrepreneurs Gather at HKUST for First Entrepreneurship Bootcamp
HKUST hosted the 2023 Entrepreneurship Bootcamp from July 4-10, bringing together approximately 40 students from top universities across Asia to the Clear Water Bay campus. This immersive program provided a comprehensive and engaging learning environment, fostering the development of entrepreneurial skills and mindset among the participants.
The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp offered a diverse range of activities, including workshops, interactive sessions, company visits and contest. These activities allowed participants to delve deep into the intricacies of entrepreneurship and gain valuable insights from experienced mentors. A particular highlight of the bootcamp was a session led by Mr. Albert WONG, CEO of HKSTP - Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, who shared invaluable insights on research outcomes commercialization and innovation.

International WeiQi Players Gather at HKUST for The "Four Seas Cup" Hong Kong International University Student WeiQi Competition
The inaugural "Four Seas Cup" Hong Kong International University Student WeiQi Competition was unveiled on HKUST campus. Hosted by the Hong Kong Greater Bay Area WeiQi Promotion Association, this tournament not only marks a milestone in Hong Kong's university WeiQi scene, but also serves a greater purpose of inspiring younger generations to learn and appreciate the ancient Chinese board game while promoting cultural exchange through sport.
The competition features 14 teams from countries including China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Brunei, as well as regions such as Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, and Macau. Over the course of two days, these teams will compete in a six-round event, receiving guidance from Chinese WeiQi Master Nie Weiping, World Champion of WeiQi Kong Jie, and other professional players.

HKUST hosted the flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on July 1, 2023. HKUST Hosts AEARU Summer Institute for Extended Flipped Education 2023
HKUST hosted the Association of East Asian Research Universities (AEARU) Summer Institute for Extended Flipped Education 2023 from July 16-23, bringing together 27 talented undergraduate and master's students from partner institutions.
During the one-week intensive program, the students got to experience the best of both worlds - classroom learning and real-world exploration. Students participated in interactive classes and engaging activities around Hong Kong, including visits to some of the city's most iconic landmarks, such as Tai Kwun, Central Market, and the West Kowloon Cultural District. They also enjoyed the scenic Duk Ling harbor cruise and campus orientation.
