HKUST Presents Internationally-Acclaimed Exploration of Creativity Featuring Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in Celebration of Its 25th Anniversary!
Hailed by the Financial Times as a festival with a “finely hewn sense of craft," The Intimacy of Creativity returns for its sixth season in collaboration with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), which presents the annual festival.
The Intimacy of Creativity (IC) continues to explore the creative process as selected composers present and revise their chamber music compositions after in-depth discussions between composers and performers.
“HKUST is proud to feature The Intimacy of Creativity as part of our 25th anniversary celebration,” says Prof Tony F Chan, President of HKUST. “We believe that music is part of the holistic education that we aim to provide to our students and it can also stimulate creativity which is vital to their future success.”

Colours of Stories: An Exhibition of Paintings by Jeanie Leung
For the first time the Library will stage an art exhibition of a HKUST graduate student?s works in our G/F Gallery.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Jeanie Leung worked in the banking industry for several years after earning a business degree from HKUST. Her childhood dream of becoming an artist went unrealized until she left her stable job to pursue a new life as a full-time painter in 2009 ? though she had never received formal art training.

HKUST Marks Opening of Hong Kong Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce Ko Pui Shuen Gallery Housing Rare Maps and Digitized Special Collections
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held the Hong Kong Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce Ko Pui Shuen Gallery Opening Ceremony today, with many valuable ancient maps and classical science and technology-related rare books. The Library is also digitizing important collections which will allow people around the world to appreciate the works via the internet.
HKUST received a HK$3 million donation from Chairman of Kingrich Asia Holdings Limited Dr Ko Pui-shuen last year for the Library's Special Collections Gallery and University Archives project. The Library will digitize essential collections, and establish an electronic image management system and indexing and search system. In honor of Dr Ko's generosity, the multi-purpose display and reading area has been named the Hong Kong Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce Ko Pui Shuen Gallery.

HKUST Students Demonstrate Their Talents in Performing Arts
A group of local and international students at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have organized a Talent Quest to showcase the multifaceted talents within the student community. This event is one of the five winners in the recently-launched President's 1-HKUST Student Life Awards, aimed to enrich campus life and promote cultural exchange.
The nine performances selected for the final round encompassed not only individual and group singing, but also guitar and Chinese classical guzheng recitals as well as ballet. The participants included students from Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, India and other overseas countries.
The championship was captured by Anton Cheung Ho-Yu who staged a breathtaking beat-boxing performance, combining the sounds of Chinese and Western musical instruments with talking and singing. His immaculate skill won rounds of thunderous applause from the audience.

HKUST Shares Mystery of Musical Composition with General Public in The Intimacy of Creativity Series of Rehearsals and Concerts
As a highlight of the 20th anniversary celebration of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), The Intimacy of Creativity presents world-famous musicians from overseas who will play and discuss new music with world-famous and emerging composers. This event is hosted by HKUST's School of Humanities and Social Science (SHSS).
The Intimacy of Creativity is the first-of-its-kind series of music workshops and concerts in Hong Kong. In line with HKUST's commitment to nurturing all-rounded global leaders, SHSS is presenting this event as part of its music and humanities education research project. The Intimacy of Creativity introduces a new perspective in appreciating music by showcasing the creative process of a new work. By exposing HKUST students to this unique experience, the goal is to develop innovative and imaginative thinkers.

Mastermind behind the Animated Version of Chinese Painting Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival to Share Creative Process with HKUST Community
Entitled "River of Wisdom - Animated Version of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival", the exhibition currently being displayed at the Asia World-Expo in Hong Kong International Airport received overwhelming response. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is honored to invite Mr Yu Zheng, Project Director of the "Animated Version of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival" and currently Director of the Exhibition Business Department of Crystal Digital Technology Co. Ltd (Shanghai) to give a presentation on the "Interpretation of Chinese Cultural Masterpieces through Modern Technology".

Eight Tertiary Institutions Join Hands for the First Time in Cantonese Opera Performance (Chinese only)
本 港 八 家 大 專 院 校 的 師 生 , 將 首 度 攜 手 合 作 , 於 「 大 專 粵 劇 推 廣 計 劃 」 的 結 業 演 出 中 同 台 粉 墨 登 場 , 成 為 本 港 粵 劇 史 上 的 創 舉 。
「 大 專 粵 劇 推 廣 計 劃 」 由 香 港 科 技 大 學 ( 科 大 ) 藝 術 中 心 主 辦 , 旨 在 提 高 全 港 大 專 院 校 同 學 和 教 職 員 對 粵 劇 的 認 識 和 欣 賞 。 它 是 全 港 首 個 惠 及 所 有 大 專 院 校 的 粵 劇 推 廣 計 劃 。 計 劃 於 去 年 9 月 推 出 , 為 期 一 年 ; 活 動 包 括 工 作 坊 、 示 範 講 座 、 粵 劇 演 出 及 攝 影 比 賽 。
計 劃 吸 引 了 來 自 10 家 本 港 大 專 院 校 的 22 位 學 生 及 12 位 教 職 員 參 加 。 經 過 一 年 的 學 習 和 排 演 , 其 中 來 自 8 家 大 專 學 府 的7位 學 生 和7位 教 職 員 將 於 9 月 27 日(星 期 日) 晚 上 7 時 半 在 紅 磡 高 山 劇 場 舉 行 的 結 業 演 出 中 登 場 。 這 8 家 院 校 為 香 港 科 技 大 學 、 香 港 大 學 、 香 港 中 文 大 學 、 香 港 理 工 大 學 、 香 港 浸 會 大 學 、 香 港 樹 仁 大 學 、 香 港 教 育 學 院 , 以 及 香 港 專 業 教 育 學 院 。
他 們 將 與 導 師 鄭 詠 梅 、 兩 位 客 席 導 師 袁 纓 華 和 陳 金 城 , 以 及 兩 位 演 出 嘉 賓 洪 海 和 江 駿 傑 共 同 演 出 五 套 粵 劇 折 子 戲 : 帝 女 花 之 香 夭 、 紫 釵 記 之 拾 釵 、 紅 樓 夢 之 洞 房 怨 婚 、 鳳 閣 恩 仇 未 了 情 , 以 及 再 世 紅 梅 記 之 脫 阱 救 裴 。
