HKUST Engineering Received Three Natural Science Awards
Three School of Engineering faculty members were honored in the Ministry of Education’s 2018 Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards (Science and Technology). These significant national awards recognize leading contributions to scientific discovery and technological innovation carried out in tertiary institutions across China.

HKUST ROV Team Won World Championship Again
The HKUST Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Team was crowned the All-Around Champion and Engineering Presentation Champion in the MATE International ROV Competition 2019, which was held on June 20-22 in Kingsport, Tennessee, US. This marks the second time that the team receives all-around championship in this international competition since they first participated in 2011, after the first time in 2017. They are also the only Asian team so far that gained this top accolade in the 18-year history of this competition.

HKUST Robotics Team Named Champion in Hong Kong Regional of MATE International ROV Competition for Ninth Consecutive Year
The HKUST Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Team defended their champion title in the 14th Hong Kong Regional of the MATE International ROV Competition. The ROV Team, a sub-team of the HKUST Robotics Team, has been named champion in this competition for the ninth consecutive year. They will represent Hong Kong to take part in the MATE International ROV Competition 2019 in Kingsport, Tennessee, US on June 20-22.

Engineering Student Team Crowned Champion at Smart Warehouse Hackathon
A team of 5 HKUST School of Engineering (SENG) students brought home the championship at the Kerry Logistics Hackathon in February, a competition that sought to explore the possibility of using drones to help run smart warehouses.
Joined by 50 local undergraduate and postgraduate students in 8 groups, as well as 50 industry participants, the competition comprised two sessions.
In the “Drone Flying Competition” session, contestants had to create the best path for the drone to race and capture information about the warehouse at the Kerry Cargo Centre in Kwai Chung, by leveraging the power of autonomous drones and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques in this 24-hour overnight hackathon. Contestants were judged on criteria such as how accurate, efficient, stable and well-planned their drone flights were.

Kellogg-HKUST EMBA Ranks Top Spot in QS Global Rankings
The Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA (EMBA) Program is ranked the top in the world in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Global EMBA Rankings 2019.For the third time, QS profiles the world’s top EMBA programs, including a separate chart for the best joint EMBA programs offered as partnerships across more than one school. The Kellogg-HKUST EMBA has not only ranked the best joint EMBA program for the second time in three years, but also scored a perfect 100 in two of the five indicators used to compile the ranking, namely “employer reputation” and “career outcomes”.
Launched in 1998, the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA is the first joint EMBA program in Asia and has maintained its leading position for over two decades. In addition to the latest QS Rankings, the Program made a record-setting achievement last year by topping the Financial Times Global EMBA Rankings for the ninth time.
