RMBI Student Won the "Best Student Invention Award" at Hong Kong ICT Award 2017
Chan Kai Ho, Hercules, a Risk Management and Business Intelligence (RMBI) Year 4 student, won the "Best Student Invention Award" at the Hong Kong Information and Communication Technology Award 2017 with a mental health app "VOID".

The annual Long Service Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 2 March 2017 to express appreciation and recognition to long-serving faculty and staff members who have dedicated their hard work to contribute to the University for 20 years. This year, HKUST presented awards to 66 colleagues.

A Homecoming
A first generation graduate from HKUST, Professor Rachel Ngai went around the world, came back and contributed to where it all started. Born in China and moved to Hong Kong as a six-year-old, Prof Rachel Ngai still remembers fondly how life was different in her adoptive homeland. “The first time I noticed the striking differences in the economies of different places was in high school,” Rachel remembers. “I was a tutor in Hong Kong and my salary was HK$100 an hour, so much higher than that of my father who was a pharmacist, earning HK$300 a month in China.”
