The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands, have formed a new strategic partnership focused on art and technology education and research.   This partnership, inaugurated on December 6, 2024, by HKUST Dean of the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS) Prof. QU Huamin and a delegation from TU Delft led by Prof. Maaike KLEINSMANN, Chair of the TU Delft | Campus Rotterdam Program, marks a significant milestone in fostering interdisciplinary innovation, and enhancing knowledge exchange in art and technology to create meaningful social impact.

The Inaugural International Forum on Interdisciplinary Education (the Forum), organized by the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS) of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), was successfully held on November 16, 2024 on the Clear Water Bay campus. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) announced today the establishment of the Division of Arts and Machine Creativity (AMC), a cross-disciplinary center that promotes the convergence of technology and art.  Created by HKUST MPhil student LI Haozhen and his team with the guidance of Dr. LIANG Haobo, Associate Director of the University’s Hong Kong Center for Construction Robotics (HKCRC), the rebar tying robot is one of the University’s four Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury winners at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva held this April. The world-renowned inventions event saw the University scaling new heights with a record-breaking 36 winning projects.

Researchers at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have created a cutting-edge platform consisting of a dual-laser nonlinear optical microscope to investigate the dynamics of muscle satellite cells (MuSCs) during the process of muscle regeneration. This breakthrough has identified new mechanisms of MuSC behavior in muscle repair, paving the way for the development of targeted therapeutic strategies for muscle-related disorders.
