HKUST, HKMA and HKIMR Host Global CBDC Conference Featuring Expert Insights from Asia, Europe, and North America
In a collaborative effort to explore the potential of the Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), the School of Business and Management of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST Business School), in partnership with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Hong Kong Institute for Monetary and Financial Research (HKIMR) under the Hong Kong Academy of Finance hosted today the International Conference on Central Bank Digital Currencies and Payment Systems.
Attended by participants from academia, central banks, financial institutions and fintech firms, this event brought together experts from international financial institutions, central banks, and universities across Asia, Europe, and North America to shed light on a wide range of critical CBDC-related topics, including policy implications, technological innovations, operational challenges and industry dynamics.

HKUST and CCB Co-organize Fintech Master Program to Cultivate Financial Talents and Foster Connectivity
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the China Construction Bank (CCB) today to co-organize a master program in Financial Technology (MSc in Fintech) in the new academic year – the first such program in the Greater Bay Area. The collaboration – which also includes a mini-MBA program targeting micro, small and medium enterprises (SME), and CCB sharing financial cases and data with HKUST for relevant joint research projects – sets a new model for youth exchanges and financial connectivity between Hong Kong and the mainland.

Hong Kong’s First Fintech Manpower Study Identifies 13 Most Needed Competencies
The School of Business and Management of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST Business School) announced the major findings of an industry-wide study on “Fintech Talent Development, Competency and Manpower”. With a view to addressing the growing demand for fintech talent in Hong Kong, the intensive study outlines ten observations about the industry, makes ten recommendations on talent development, and identifies thirteen core competencies for fintech professionals.

HKUST Satellite Activities in Support of HK Fintech Week
The School of Business and Management of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST Business School) has unveiled a series of activities for students and the industry to show its full support for Hong Kong Fintech Week which started today.
As a satellite event of the InvestHK’s Fintech Week, the School partnered with the Fintech Association of Hong Kong to present an industry panel on November 1. The event entitled: “Bank 4.0 and the Future of Financial Services” featured five experts in the field to discuss the latest technological advancements and their impacts on the world of banking and financial services. Held at HKUST Business Central, the event attracted an audience of over one hundred alumni and industry practitioners.

HKUST Launches Joint School MSc in Financial Technology Program
School of Business and Management, School of Engineering, and School of Science of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) are jointly offering the inaugural university-wide Master of Science in Financial Technology (MSc Fintech) Program in Hong Kong.
The MSc Fintech program at HKUST is a one-year full-time or two-year part-time program that aims to bridge the talent gap in the Fintech industry. The Program leverages the diverse expertise of professors in the three schools to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and skills related to popular financial technologies and their engineering and financial principles. Students will enhance their market competitiveness in the multi-disciplinary and booming Fintech space. The first cohort welcomes 60 professionals with backgrounds mainly in finance and technology.
