HKUST Hosts Coursera’s Second Annual Asia Regional Workshop
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted Coursera’s second annual Asia Regional Workshop in Hong Kong. Around 180 representatives from major Asian universities joined the three-day event (15-17 October) for vibrant sessions about Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), online and blended pedagogy, and emerging trends in higher education. The Workshop was hosted by HKUST in collaboration with The University of Hong Kong, bringing together university officials, faculty members, instructional designers, program managers, technology specialists, and course staff from across Couresera’s partner organizations in the region. Coursera is the world’s largest open online education provider.

HKUST Launches Open Online Courses in Full Stack Web Development on Coursera to Advance Access to Career-Relevant Education
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is launching an online course series teaching Full Stack Web Development on Coursera, the world’s largest open online education provider. Scheduled to start on September 15th, the program, named“Full Stack Web Development Specialization”, is composed of a series of courses taught by the University’s top faculty and accessible to anyone. HKUST Develops First Visual Analytic System on E-learning Behavior VisMOOC Won HKICT Innovation Award
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has developed the first visual analytic system for Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC), which provides interactive, in-depth, and user-friendly analysis of e-learning behavior, promising improvement in teaching quality and more demand-focus MOOC programs that could further boost the development of online education.The system Visual Analysis of MOOC (VisMOOC), developed by a team led by Prof Huamin Qu from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, has received the Best Innovation (Innovative Technology) Silver Award at The Hong Kong ICT Awards this year.

HKUST Launches Hong Kong's First Credit-bearing MOOC and Three New Programs on edX
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) will add its first three courses on edX (xConsortium) - one of the two major platforms in the world that offers Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), in its ongoing efforts to promote this next generation learning medium that not only gives any eager learner worldwide an opportunity to take classes provided by top universities, but also make learning more personalized and flexible for students.The University will also offer a pilot scheme this summer for HKUST students to earn credits for their degree study, provided that they complete six weeks of face-to-face course work on campus on top of the MOOC they take. The course will be listed on their transcript and the credits can be counted as degree requirements.The three new courses to launch between June and September are as follows:

HKUST Joins World's Leading Institutions under edX's X University Consortium to foster online learning
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is pleased to join the X University Consortium of edX (xConsortium), the not-for-profit online learning initiative comprised of leading global institutions founded by Harvard University and MIT. The University is one of the first Asian institutions to join the xConsortium to deliver the next generation of online and blended courses.
