HKUST Trio Competes in World University Games for Table Tennis and Taekwondo (Chinese Version only)
香港科技大學(科大)今年共有三名學生運動員,將代表香港特區出征德國萊茵-魯爾世界大學生運動會(世大運),其中兩位是乒乓球港隊女將﹕工商管理學院的吳詠琳同學和江芷林同學,而理學院的陳建鋒同學則將出戰跆拳道項目,矢志為港爭光。
乒壇雙姝攜手出征
工商管理學院四年級學生吳詠琳(Pedrey NG Wing-Lam)是香港乒乓球隊主力隊員,現世界女雙排名第11位。這位實力派女將去年12月在成都舉行的國際乒聯混合團體世界盃中勇奪銅牌。這次世大運,她將參加女子單打、雙打、混雙及團體賽四個項目,力爭佳績。
同樣來自商學院的一年級新生江芷林(Gilliam KONG Tsz-Lam)是香港乒乓球壇的「明日之星」。她在2025年國際乒聯世界乒乓球錦標賽總決賽中與搭檔挺進女雙16強,展現實力。今年她將首次亮相世大運舞台,出戰女子單打、雙打及團體賽三個項目。
跆拳道健兒蓄勢待發
理學院三年級學生陳建鋒(Jacky CHAN Kin-Fung),將代表香港出戰男子54公斤級跆拳道賽事。自去年起,陳同學多次代表香港參加國際賽事,並積極備戰本屆世大運,決心在這個國際舞台上再創佳績。
今屆世大運將於7月16日至27日舉行,集合來自全球170多個國家和地區的參賽選手。75名港隊大學生運動員健兒,將參與競逐10個賽事項目。

HKUST Unveils WavyOcean 2.0: A Next-Generation Ocean Platform for Marine Research and Sustainability
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is pleased to announce the launch of WavyOcean 2.0, an immersive digital twin platform of regional earth system. This upgraded platform deeply integrates digital technologies with innovative research in Earth system, creating the first "dynamic digital mirror" for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) and China's coastal regions. With these enhancement, WavyOcean 2.0 offers the latest data on ocean currents, marine ecology, atmospheric conditions, and the distribution of rivers and pollutants in terrestrial watersheds, along with comprehensive data analysis tools and immersive visualization interactive functions.

HKUST and Tsinghua Sign Three Agreements to Deepen Collaboration on Research and Education
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) signed three agreements with Tsinghua University (Tsinghua) to foster collaboration in research and education. These initiatives include launching a joint Integrated Master-PhD Program in Electronic and Computer Engineering, an executive education program and joint research funding. Unleashing New Opportunities in Education and Research through CollaborationHKUST Council Chairman Prof. Harry SHUM and HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP recently received a Tsinghua University delegation led by Secretary of the Party Committee Prof. QIU Yong, alongside Tsinghua Council Deputy Chairman Prof. YANG Bin and other senior Tsinghua officials. Closing Ceremony of The Jockey Club Sustainable Campus Consumer Programme
Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Jockey Club Sustainable Campus Consumer Programme (JCSCCP) aims to promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. The programme’s closing ceremony was held at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) Tai Po campus on 29 May 2025.
The JCSCCP was launched in 2021 and concluded in May 2025, with a donation of over HK$15 million by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. The programme was coordinated by the Sustainability/ Net-Zero Office at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, was a collaborative endeavour by the eight UGC-funded universities through The Hong Kong Sustainable Campus Consortium (HKSCC). It targeted students in the eight UGC-funded university communities to encourage positive behaviour change in leading a more sustainable lifestyle through various project themes under the three programme pillars. The inaugural Gala Dinner of the HKUST Foundation recently took place amid an outpouring of kindness and generosity—hosting over 200 distinguished guests of academia, business, and philanthropy. The gala dinner marked the official launch of the HKUST Foundation, which aims to foster a greater sense of belonging among the University community while broadening its fundraising network for strategic development.
Amidst the glitz and glamor, what truly stole the limelight was the auction of two exclusive leather jackets autographed by NVIDIA’s Founder and CEO, Dr. Jensen HUANG. These two jackets raised a staggering total of over HK$20 million to support strategic development at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

“I am an HKUSTer” Series: From a Student in Need to an Entrepreneur Giving Back
Once a student from modest beginnings, Terry TSANG is now the CEO of Madhead, a leading mobile game developer. His smash-hit game, Tower of Saviors, has over 23 million downloads worldwide and features collaborations with top animation franchises. Despite his success, Terry remains deeply connected to his alma mater, HKUST.
As an Alumnus, Council Member, and Donor, Terry’s devotion to HKUST is unwavering. What he treasures most in his office is a 20-year-old letter from HKUST—reminding him of when the University gave him emergency support during a family tragedy.
“My father passed away suddenly during my final year of study,” Terry recalls, holding the letter. “It was devastating, but I’ll never forget how much HKUST supported us during that difficult time. This letter still sits on my desk today.”

HKUST Appointed by WHO to Lead Regional Consortium on Digital Health Innovation
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has been appointed by the Asia Pacific Observatory on Health Systems and Policies (APO), a collaborative partnership hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Regional Office for the Western Pacific, to spearhead a regional research consortium focused on digital health innovation. This prestigious appointment, secured through a competitive process, underscores HKUST’s global leadership in policy research under the theme “Leveraging Digital Health Technologies and Data to Strengthen Health System Outcomes.”
