HKUST Strengthens Global Bonds with the UAE
HKUST welcomed a delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), further fortifying our partnership and fostering dynamic knowledge exchange. This monumental visit marked a significant milestone in strengthening bonds with the Middle East region.  The UAE's Economy Minister H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al MARRI and his delegation engaged in insightful discussions with HKUST Acting President Prof. GUO Yike and other senior leaders. The discussions revolved around exploring potential collaborations in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), sustainability, knowledge transfer, and student recruitment. This visit has laid a solid foundation for future collaborations and the cultivation of international talents.

Sixteen HKUST Students Volunteer at Hangzhou Asian Games (Chinese version only)
香港科技大學(科大)今日派遣全港最大規模的大學生團隊,到杭州亞洲運動會出任義務工作。是次出征獲中央人民政府駐香港特別行政區聯絡辦公室(中聯辦)協調安排,16名科大學生義工,包括多個來自如劍擊、欖球、射箭和合球等大學校隊的成員,本周初出席了由中聯辦教育科技部處長方磊主持的培訓活動,並於今日中午正式啟程前往杭州,參與將於本周六揭幕的第19屆亞洲運動會。 此外,3名科大學生和校友亦將以運動員身份,於本屆亞運會與各國運動員同場競技,為港爭光。出賽的科大運動員包括透過學生運動員入學計劃(SAAS)入讀機械及航空航天工程學系的伍泰龍,他將代表香港出戰本屆亞運的三項鐵人項目。市場學系學生黄皓雋將出戰足球項目;而剛於本年畢業的資訊系統學系校友黃淨淳,則將出戰運動攀登項目。科大一向著重學生之多元發展,並設有學生運動員入學計劃(SAAS),提供獎學金、生活津貼、全面及靈活的學習支援和安排,以助學生運動員同時追求運動及學術成就。

HKUST Fortifies Global Bonds with European Delegations
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has recently welcomed several European delegations, further its commitment to international academic collaboration and cultural exchange. These visits marked a significant milestone in strengthening global bonds. On September 4, HKUST hosted delegations from Emmanuel College of The University of Cambridge, led by Master Doug CHALMERS, and delegation from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), led by Provost Prof. Jan HESTHAVEN. The meetings facilitated insightful discussions on advancing academic collaboration and research, demonstrating the University's dedication to fostering international partnerships.

HKUST Hosts “Have a Great Start!” Event to Welcome Students Back for New Academic Year Commencement (Chinese version only)
受超強颱風蘇拉影響,香港科技大學(科大)原訂於上周五舉辦的「Have a Great Start!」開學歡迎活動延至今日(九月四日)舉行。去年10月上任、今年首次以校長身份與同學一起迎接新學年的葉玉如教授,與一眾大學管理層,在校園向同學派發由科大校友創立的精品品牌汽水,為同學打「氣」,並跟他們一同參與幸運輪抽獎活動派發小禮品。葉校長於開學日向師生及教職員發電郵,鼓勵他們充分利用大學的設施和資源,全心投入追求學術和研究卓越,並把握所有能促進個人成長和發展機會。 香港科技大學(廣州)(港科大(廣州))亦於上周五舉辦開學典禮。校長倪明選教授為今年首屆本科生,以及所有研究生,開講「校長第一課」。
