HKUST Hosts Inaugural AUA Innovation & Entrepreneurship Network Meeting
As the sole university representative from Hong Kong, as part of the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA), The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted a delegation of distinguished Alliance representatives on November 4 for the inaugural meeting of the AUA Innovation & Entrepreneurship Network. During the meeting, Prof. Carrie LING, Director of Entrepreneurship Center, highlighted the development of entrepreneurship education and the support provided to student start-ups since the Center's establishment in 1999. Ms Yvonne LI, Head of Global Engagement and Greater China Affairs, shared insights on international partnerships with overseas institutions, focusing on entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer through various educational platforms and competitions.

Top Medical Experts and Scholars to Guide HKUST Council on the Third Medical School Development
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) announced today the formation of a Council Advisory Group (CAG) to offer professional and strategic advice to the University’s Council for its aspiration to establish Hong Kong’s third medical school. The CAG will be chaired by Dr. the Hon. LEONG Che-Hung, a highly respected leader in medicine, public health and education.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) President Prof. Nancy IP, along with key members of the senior leadership including Provost Prof. GUO Yike and Vice President for Institutional Advancement Prof. WANG Yang, warmly received a delegation from the University of Strathclyde (UoS), United Kingdom, led by Prof. Sir Jim MCDONALD, Principal and Vice-Chancellor. HKUST Spearheads Four Large AI Models to Revolutionize Healthcare
In a groundbreaking initiative, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has unveiled four AI-driven models poised to transform the medical and healthcare fields. These AI models can assist both general and specialist medical practitioners in diagnosing and prognosing up to 30 types of cancers and diseases, with some achieving accuracy comparable to that of medical experts with five years of experience or more.

Prof. Tim CHENG Awarded 2024 Overseas Outstanding Contribution Award by China Computer Federation
HKUST Vice-President for Research and Development Prof. Tim CHENG Kwang-Ting was honored with a 2024 CCF Overseas Outstanding Contribution Award by China Computer Federation (CCF). Prof. Cheng is concurrently a Chair Professor jointly in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering and Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Director of AI Chip Center for Emerging Smart Systems (ACCESS), a research center under the Hong Kong government’s InnoHK initiative.

HKUST Information Day to Unveil Five New Undergraduate Programs
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) announced today five new programs for the 2025/26 academic year, ahead of its Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions this Saturday.  The five programs, covering biomedical and health sciences, data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), microelectronics, and energy, aim to meet the demand for professionals in healthcare and emerging technologies while expanding course options. Additionally, the School of Engineering (SENG) will introduce a new dual-track admission framework, allowing students to be admitted via departments, offering more choices for those with clear academic pursuits.
