Revolutionizing Disaster Prevention with HKUST’s Prof. ZHANG Limin

HKUST Researchers Develop Revolutionary Biomimetic Olfactory Chips to Enable Advanced Gas Sensing and Odor Detection
A research team led by the School of Engineering of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has addressed the long-standing challenge of creating artificial olfactory sensors with arrays of diverse high-performance gas sensors. Their newly developed biomimetic olfactory chips (BOC) are able to integrate nanotube sensor arrays on nanoporous substrates with up to 10,000 individually addressable gas sensors per chip, a configuration that is similar to how olfaction works for humans and other animals.

HKUST Enhances Campus EV Charging Infrastructure to Promote Sustainability
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is investing up to HK$40 million to upgrade 30% of its total parking space with charging capability and related software support for electric vehicles (EV). The initiative aims to cultivate a sustainable commuting habit and supports emission reduction goals in the HKUST 2028 Sustainability Challenge.
HKUST is set to become the most EV-friendly university in Hong Kong with the completion of the EV charging infrastructure enhancement project, which will see approximately 360 parking spaces on campus fitted with medium EV chargers, providing an output power of no less than 7kW. The initiative not only supports the HKSAR Government's Roadmap on Popularization of EVs, but also accelerates opportunities to reduce emissions from University-owned vehicles and indirect emissions from commuting.

HKUST and MBZUAI Join Forces to Shape the Future of AI
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) welcomed a delegation from the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) including Prof. Sultan Al HAJJI, Vice President of Public Affairs and Alumni Relations, and Ms. Shimer DIAO, Head of Global Partnerships and Business Excellence, to the HKUST campus on March 27. Prof. Al Hajji shared MBZUAI’s distinctive position as the world’s first university focusing on postgraduate research in AI, and its specialized PG programs in AI application in various scopes.

HKUST Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of University Anthem with Grand Campus Sing-along and Ice-cream (Chinese Version Only)
小時候在香港街頭聽到《藍色多瑙河》,大家便會想起富豪雪糕車,一同出發尋找幸福的味道。不過今日停泊在香港科技大學(科大)賽馬會大堂的雪糕車,所播放的卻是今天剛滿「一歲」的科大校歌。校董會主席沈向洋教授、顧問委員會主席廖長城博士、校長葉玉如教授、校董會副主席楊佳錩教授、校董會成員兼校歌工作小組召集人施熙德女士及一眾校董會成員和大學管理層,更與逾百名教職員及學生齊聚校園合唱,以歌聲凝聚大學社群。
為慶祝校歌推出一周年,科大本星期舉辦一系列活動,包括校方精心準備的繽紛雪糕車。校園全日響起音樂盒旋律的科大校歌,所有科大成員只需唱出任何一句校歌歌詞,便可免費獲得雪糕一份,讓他們在繁重的學業及工作中享受一刻輕鬆的時光,並同時加深對校歌的印象和認識。大會於短短一個下午派出逾千份雪糕。
由本周一起,科大亦一連十日於賽馬會大堂設置小型展覽,介紹校歌和歌詞的靈感來源、創作過程及其背後的故事,讓大家更了解校歌蘊藏的意義和價值。
科大去年經過一輪公開徵集,匯聚校內校外的音樂才俊,推出創校三十年來首支校歌。校歌由大學社群及公眾人士攜手創作,歌詞設有粵語、普通話及英語三個版本,旨在培養成員對大學之歸屬感,體現科大的精神和核心價值。
