HKUST joins forces with Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, and Tianjin University to establish the Chinese University Alliance of Earth System Science
The Chinese University Alliance of Earth System Science (CAUSESS) has been jointly established and officially launched by its four founding members: The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, and Tianjin University. The Alliance will focus on cultivating talent in earth system science and fostering the integration of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and remote sensing, within the field. It aims to build a national research platform to drive technological breakthroughs in critical areas, including climate change response, earth system modelling, ecological protection, and environmental governance, while also deepening international collaboration to enhance the Alliance's global influence.

The Summit focused on the latest technological advancements and global development strategies in the semiconductor industry, further solidifying Hong Kong’s position as an international innovation and technology hub. HKUST Unites International Experts in CliMetS Initiative to Tackle Climate Threat of Seabed Methane Seeps
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has successfully launched the Global Climate Impact of Methane Seeps (CliMetS) Initiative through a pivotal collaboration with the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou) (GML) and over 200 experts worldwide. Endorsed as a UN Ocean Decade Action, CliMetS is dedicated to mapping seabed methane seeps across the world’s oceans and quantifying their impact on global climate systems. Recently, HKUST co-led two milestone workshops in South America and Africa, galvanizing global efforts to address methane seep research gaps and fostering cross-continental partnerships.
