HKUST and Uzbekistan’s “El-Yurt Umidi” Foundation Sign MOA to Forge Strategic Undergraduate and Executive Education Partnerships
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Uzbekistan's "El-Yurt Umidi" Foundation (the Foundation) have formalized a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). Under the agreement, both parties have pledged to strengthen educational cooperation through scholarships, academic exchanges, and executive training, providing a high-impact development pathway for talented Uzbek students and professionals through world-class international education.The MOA signing ceremony was held earlier at the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The agreement was signed by Mr. Eric LO, Head (Global Intelligence and Strategy), Office of Institutional Data and Research at HKUST, and Dr. Gulnoza ISMAILOVA, Executive Director of the “El-Yurt Umidi” Foundation for the Training of Prospective Personnel under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

HKUST and Hinrich Foundation Launch Major Scholarship in Global Trade
The School of Business and Management of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST Business School) and the Hinrich Foundation announced the launch of a new scholarship to foster leaders in global trade, marking the beginning of a three-year strategic partnership in talent development. With a joint scholarship commitment of HK$3.15 million from both organizations, the HKUST MBA-Hinrich Foundation Global Trade Leader Scholarships provides support to outstanding candidates in the HKUST full-time MBA program who are dedicated to advancing mutually beneficial and sustainable global trade.

HKUST-led HKSREC Hosts Space Intelligence Event
Led by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and established under the InnoHK research clusters of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the Hong Kong Space Robotics and Energy Centre (HKSREC) today hosted the event themed "Leading Space Intelligence: Into the Future." HKUST Strengthens Ties with Khalifa University Through New Student Exchange Agreement
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) welcomed a delegation from Khalifa University (KU) on April 10, led by President H.E. Prof. Ebrahim AL HAJRI, marking another important step in the growing partnership between the two research-intensive institutions.The delegation was received by HKUST Council Chairman Prof. Harry SHUM, together with Provost Prof. Yike GUO, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement Prof. Charles NG, and other members of the University’s senior leadership. During the meeting, both sides held forward-looking discussions on strengthening academic and research collaboration, exploring initiatives such as joint PhD programs, faculty and doctoral student mobility, and seed funding to support early-stage collaborative research.

HKUST-led Hong Kong Space Robotics and Energy Centre Partners with Southeast University to Advance Deep Space Exploration Supporting the National Goal of Becoming an Aerospace Powerhouse
Led by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the Hong Kong Space Robotics and Energy Centre (HKSREC), under the InnoHK Research Clusters of the HKSAR Government, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Southeast University (SEU) to establish a long-term strategic partnership. The collaboration will focus on research innovation, technology transfer, and talent cultivation in the fields of space robotics, deep space energy systems, embodied intelligence, and related interdisciplinary areas, thereby contributing to the nation’s efforts to build a leading aerospace power.A delegation led by the Nanjing Municipal People's Government visited HKUST's Clear Water Bay campus on March 8. They engaged in an insightful discussion with the University’s management and representatives, and toured the State Key Laboratory of Displays and Optoelectronics, where HKUST's latest research innovations were showcased.

HKUST Professor Bestowed with France’s “Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite”
Prof. Veronique LAFON-VINAIS, Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Finance at HKUST Business School, was bestowed the rank of “Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite” on Mar 3 at the Residence of the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to sustainable finance education.The honor was presented by Mrs. Christile DRULHE, Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, on March 3. The award recognizes Prof. Lafon-Vinais’ role in advancing sustainability in finance and in strengthening collaboration between France and Hong Kong.Reflecting on the recognition, Prof. Lafon-Vinais said the award also acknowledged the collective efforts of colleagues who have worked over the past decades to advance sustainable development and the growth of sustainable and green finance. She added that she was proud of the many interdisciplinary achievements made at HKUST.

HKUST Hosts Naming Ceremony of Futu Academic Pavilion
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) received a generous donation of HKD 30 million from Futu Securities International (Hong Kong) Limited (Futu) to support the University’s innovation and research development, as well as to establish a new scholarship recognizing outstanding HKUST students. In appreciation of Futu’s dedicated support, the University has named a multi-purpose learning facility at the Lee Shau Kee Library as the “Futu Academic Pavilion,” which serving as a key academic center for its faculty and students to engage in teaching, group discussions, and individual learning. This initiative not only underscores the importance of industry-academia collaboration in talent development but also lays a solid foundation for long-term cooperation between the two parties.
