Let's think for a second, how does a university life qualify for the best experience? What if it enlightened you for a whole new world for your intellectual pursuit? How about meeting someone who you called a life partner? And last but not the least a rewarding and meaningful career? The best of the best though, is when one gets the 3 wishes together! It all began in August 1998, the kickoff of a life-changing journey for a regular 19-year old in Hong Kong. I used to love Chinese history but it was the Humanities professors at UST who taught me how to study our own history from a totally different perspective. I also got to join AIESEC, the world's largest student run organization, in which I feel so lucky to meet my beloved wife and offered me the chance to go through a traineeship with my current employer in the US. Plus, all the advertising, consumer behavior and market research knowledge I accumulated that I call my professional expertise now.

This photo is taken on 4 April 2011, on the stage in Sheung Wan Theater. They are crew members of Annual Performance 2011 of Drama Society, HKUST. This is the last day of their performance. They had spent their effort more than half of year and gonna show their effort to audience on that night . Everyone were enjoying this moment and AP11 become their unforgetable memories in U-life.

I still remember the first day I went to UST for registration. Unfamiliar faces and unfamiliar surroundings. I wondered whether I would ever fit in the university. It was such a big transition from secondary school and I never thought that I would have learnt to love this place so much over the three years. I still remember my last day of university. All the familiar faces and the familiar surroundings. The sense of pride I set foot into UST campus everytime because of each and every one I got to know here, and the school that equipped me to go into the adult world. UST is my second home, it is the place we grew with tears and laughter, the place that contains memories that are irreplaceable. Happy Congregation 2011

In 2007, the HKUST MBA Alumni Association started out a project "Build Schools @ China" with an aim to contribute to providing education to the less privileged in the mountainous area of the Mainland, through the rebuilding of schools, provision of scholarship and encouragement from our MBA alumni. The photos were taken in Guizhou during the initial visit. While digital cameras had became part of our lives, these children, obviously, had no idea what it was. It took a while to break the ice and make them feel comfortable to take photos that can be seen immediately. Look at how amazed and how eager they show. Ms Lin Wang, a PhD candidate in the Department of Physics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), has received the Chinese Youth Science and Technology Innovation Prize in recognition of her outstanding achievements in innovative science. Ms Wang also became the only young scientist in Hong Kong to receive the Young Scientist Award this year. The Young Scientist honor, presented by the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS), was awarded in recognition of her breakthrough research on the study of two-dimensional graphene structures containing resonant impurities, and their novel properties and physical mechanisms.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), in collaboration with Sun Yat-Sen University, has established the "Partner State Key Laboratory on Advanced Displays and Optoelectronics Technologies (PSKL)", following approval from the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Central Government. The Laboratory aims to boost green displays and optoelectronics technologies. Prof Tony F Chan, President of HKUST, Ms Janet Wong, Commissioner of Innovation and Technology Commission, Prof Li Lu, Director of the Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, Prof Jun Chen, Professor of Sun Yat-sen University and Deputy-Director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Display Material and Technology, and others, officiated at the PSKL opening ceremony today.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has achieved another milestone in molecular neuroscience research. Prof Nancy Ip, Dean of Science, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Neuroscience and The Morningside Professor of Life Science at HKUST, and her research team have discovered a novel mechanism that controls brain cell production and cortical expansion. The study has significantly contributed to our understanding of the evolution of the brain and the molecular basis of neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, with far-reaching implications for biomedicine. These groundbreaking discoveries have been published in Neuron, a prestigious journal in neuroscience.
