Claire Chan Final Year Student, Dual Degree Program in Technology Management Founder of Sensbeat During my four years at HKUST, I have been provided with opportunities that I would never have even thought about at high school. In studying at HKUST, I have had the chance to travel the world for different conferences and competitions on topics ranging from technology to human liberation. I have met and talked to world leaders, studied in another top global university, founded “HKUST Great Minds” to spread the power of ideas, and participated in voluntary work on the other side of the world. Crucially,HKUST also helped me to meet a group of talented people with similar interests, which is how we came to create our emotion-sharing app called Sensbeat.

学生宿舍第八及第九座均在天台栽种植物以降低室温、装置太阳能发电板及使用环保家俱和装修。 建筑环保评估协会向科大两座新落成的本科生宿舍颁发环保建筑奖，评定楼宇设计及建造达至金级别，嘉许科大在可持续发展方面的努力。 致力保护环境 学生宿舍第八及第九座均安装高能源效益升降机和空调设备；走廊及楼梯的照明系统均为智能感应，大楼亦安装省水系统。而两座宿舍的天台均栽种植物以降低室温及装有太阳能发电板。 大学健康、安全及环境处高级经理(可持续发展)博克特先生指出，若要兴建绿色建筑，必须与建筑师及承建商紧密合作，包括在设计、用料、建筑方法及装修方面均符合绿色建筑的要求。 建筑过程中，大学对室内空气质素，例如污染物质有否被过滤尤其重视。博克特说：「我们要仔细考虑房间中每一件家俱及每一种物料，因为它们都必须是环保及只有低含量的VOC (有机挥发物)。」 另外，新落成的学生宿舍亦采用环保的建筑方法，包括在某些路段使用循环再造的玻璃砖、在建筑过程中采用来自可持续来源、如有森林管理委员会(FSC)认证的木材，以及将超过50%的建筑废料交予回收商作循环再用。 推动校园可持续发展 科大物业管理处已将香港科技大学赛马会高等研究院座落的卢家骢荟萃楼、李兆基商学大楼及科研与教学大楼的环保建筑申请提交至建筑环保评估协会，以进行绿色建筑评级。为配合大学发展绿色校园，科大已承诺日後新落成的建筑物均需达到香港建筑环境评估法的金级别标准。

Vanessa Ng, Business, Year 3 There's a lot more than studying and exams here at HKUST. No doubt, exams and assignments do account for most of our nightmares but sometimes, all we need is just a little stress management. ;) Living in student halls makes it much easier for us to socialise and explore the campus. Our 3-year university life is short and people often graduate without really exploring the full extent of school facilities. Is it really worthwhile to spend hours on end studying under a large pile of books and papers in the library? Personally, I beg to differ.

Karry Wong (21 years old) from Hong Kong is now studying in the first semester of his Master in Mathematics at the Technical University of Munich. "The world is big and there's plenty to explore." Karry Wong said. The 21-year-old student from Hong Kong therefore did not only want to study mathematics in China, he had been to Spain and France during his academic training.  He is now spending his first semester of a Master program in Mathematics at the Technical University of Munich.
