25 Faces Series – Words from Undergraduate Li Yan Yung
In celebration of our 25th Anniversary, a growing collection of videos was made to feature the remarkable community at HKUST – past and present. “I have heard that all HKUST students do are studying and academics, but now that I have become a student here, I found that HKUST has a lot of different student societies for us to join and have fun too.” Undergraduate of School of Business and Management, Li Yan Yung said.

T&M-DDP invited Mr. Raymond NGAI, Head of IT Infrastructure and Operation Services, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, to share his IT professional work in The Hong Kong Jockey Club, a 130 year old organization, and insights as an angel investor at the Executive Forum on 24 February 2017 with over 100 students.

The Human Side of Life
An inclusive student initiative is building bonds and understanding between the myriad individuals who comprise HKUST         Be prepared to go beyond technology, timetables and tests if you talk with a member of “Humans of HKUST”. The project, established and driven by students, conducts far-reaching interviews with a diverse range of HKUST-ers, exploring the culture, background, and personal experiences of individuals across the University’s globalized community. Quotes, moving anecdotes, and thought-provoking views are then shared through Facebook and compiled into an annual book of stories, distributed free on campus. “Humans of HKUST” has proved a powerful journey of self-discovery for those who join and a great way to widen insight and empathy on campus.

意想不到
謝茜嘉,原名何紀秋,是知名的商業電台主持人,主持的節目包括廣受歡迎的《叱咤樂壇》及《西加航空》等。然而,當年剛進科大修讀化學時,她仍是一個害羞和文靜的女孩,從未考慮過在廣播界發展事業。 謝茜嘉表示:「考進科大的時候,我還是相當文靜和害羞,但宿舍生活讓我接觸到各式各樣的人,使我變得開朗和外向。」當年攻讀理科學位之時,她亦副修文化研究和邏輯思考等科目,因而初次接觸流行文化。畢業後,她原先於一家藥業公司任職,其後因緣際會參加了商業電台主辦的DJ選拔賽,並成為電台節目主持人。這個決定從此改寫了她的事業。 今天,謝茜嘉已是一位穿梭世界各地的旅遊達人,曾出版多本書籍,並為電視主持旅遊節目,介紹各地的異國風情。她表示:「修讀哪一個科目並不重要,最重要是擴闊自己的視野,因此(年輕同學)不應為自己訂立任何框架,或者局限自己的理想。」 原名李澄的「西瓜」也是廣受歡迎的商台節目主持人,主持以年輕人和學生為對象的《早安,同學早!》,以及主打環球流行音樂的《太陽從西瓜升起》。西瓜是主修市場學的工商管理畢業生,同時也是香港歌星林姍姍的女兒。畢業後,她原本到商台應徵市場推廣職位,但結果卻獲聘出任一個商台有份參與的社企項目的創作職位。勇於挑戰自己的西瓜欣然接受。 及後成為主持人,西瓜一直學以致用,透過清晰的意念、簡明扼要的表達、了解目標聽眾,以及每年自我評估等方法,提升個人競爭力及聽眾群的忠誠度。西瓜指出:「(年輕同學應該)時常思考進步的空間,並設法提高自己的競爭力。 」 謝茜嘉和西瓜的故事原載於2016年冬季《科大校友通訊》。

"Go Paperless"-Corporate Project Sponsored by Hong Kong Jockey Club and IBM Global Business Services
With the support of Hong Kong Jockey Club and IBM Global Business Services (IBM GBS), 2016 fall term's Corporate Project "Go Paperless" is to help change work habits by reducing paper consumption in Hong Kong Jockey Club business units. The project aims at providing students with hands-on experience in solving complex real business problems and polishing their advanced skills in strategic thinking and executive communication.
