Alumni Reunion of Risk Management and Business Intelligence Program (RMBI) was held on 3 July 2018. We are delighted hold the first RMBI reunion to gather RMBI alumni back together to enjoy a great and cozy evening with faculty members and current students.

On 30 & 31 May 2018, 31 Sports Leaders from 15 sports joined the Sports Leader Training Camp jointly organized by the Sports Association, HKUSTSU and Student Affairs Office.

Being a gifted person means you should become an inspiration for others, and trailblaze a path to success for them. Kathy Cheung is only 20 years old, but is already a graduate of the International Research Enrichment Program and was once a student of the Center for the Development of the Gifted and Talented run by HKUST, and now she wants to inspire others. Skipping both secondary 6 and her senior year at university, Kathy is somewhat of a prodigy, yet is still friendly and breezy. However, Kathy’s achievements are anything but casual, especially after joining a coveted position with HKUST’s Vice-President for Research & Development Prof Nancy Ip. The professor has been bestowed the National Natural Science Awards for her work on the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s.

IPO Industrial Fellowship "Career Insider Series" is held regularly to provide insights and insider tips of different industries to IPO students. On 26 April 2018, we were pleased to have Dr Zhi-Xiong CAI, Managing Director and Head of Risk Management in Huatai Financial Holdings (Hong Kong) Limited, to share his professional knowledge and experience in risk management and the development of the financial industry.

香港科技大學(科大)宣佈與紅十字國際委員會(ICRC)開展合作計劃，範圍涵蓋研究工作與一系列活動，包括工作坊及為科大生預留實習機會等，合作旨在促進國際人道工作，並讓學生透過體驗式學習提升國際視野。 科大師生將透過今次合作，與ICRC專為促進與包括科大等機構開展研究工作而成立的新部門，就人道工作對發展中國家所帶來的經濟效益，進行統計研究。此外，科大同學亦獲預留一個實習生名額。作為一個三度獲得諾貝爾和平獎的人道救援組織，ICRC的實習名額一向為全球競爭目標，而今次也是ICRC首次預留實習生名額予本港院校的學生。 被選中的學生必須善於溝通、積極主動及對人道工作有興趣和熱誠，他/她將到ICRC位於日內瓦的總部工作一年，協助處理外交事務，接待包括國家領事代表和國際集團管理層等組織捐款者與合作夥伴。 為了讓科大同學感受ICRC前線員工每天面對的挑戰，ICRC亦於二月在科大舉辦「模擬工作坊」，安排了一整天的小組討論、匯報及角色扮演。這個工作坊亦是ICRC於亞洲首次舉行。 科大學生事務處副處長(輔學課程)兼科大侍學行項目主任汪含芳女士認為，今次的安排為學生提供一個前所未有的機會，她表示﹕「我們十分榮幸可以與這個獨特的國際人道救援組織展開合作，是次計劃不只對科大學生有利，同時也為科大教職員及校友提供一個平台，提高他們對全球議題的參與。」 今次合作為「科大侍學行」的最新項目。「科大侍學行」乃科大一個社區參與計劃，透過跟廣大社區持續合作及舉辦各種活動，提升學生的學習體驗及公民意識，並促進教職員對推行公民教育的投入。 ICRC政府事務及捐款者關係區域市場主管葉維昌先生表示﹕「通過這個實習計劃，亞洲的學生得以從一個國際人道救援組織獲得直接及充實的經驗，我希望未來將有更多來自亞洲的年輕專業人士加入ICRC。」 經過多輪面試，環球商業管理及營運管理學四年級學生黃子容最終脫穎而出，將於今年六月中開始有關實習。

It's no doubt that innovation is the key to success in future. To provide students with hands-on experience in generating innovative ideas and design to solve real life problems, IPO brings in a new course "What is Design and How to Design".

About 450 student athletes, coaches and staff from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and University of Macau participated in the 13 events of the 19th HKUST-UM Sports Challenge Cup at HKUST on Saturday, 28 April 2018.

Environmental Management & Technology Program (EVMT) Alumni Homecoming Day was held on 3 March 2018 to bring EVMT graduates back together to cultivate, foster, maintain and support closer relationship between alumni, current students and faculty members
