The Hong Kong Generative AI R&D Center (HKGAI), a joint-university collaborative venture, led by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) with multiple universities, demonstrated how AI can be effectively integrated into the daily lives of citizens under the theme "AI Buddy for Hong Kong Citizens" at the InnoEX 2025.

With funding from the HKSAR government’s InnoHK initiative, HKGAI has further expanded its inventions for more practical applications since last year’s exhibition. Following the launch of HKGAI V1, the latest locally developed large model launched early this year, a series of new self-developed AI research projects based on the HKGAI V1 large model were debut at InnoEX 2025, including:

HKChat— By interacting with HKChat in real-time through mobile phones, citizens can easily obtain information about local traffic, travel tips, government consultation, and other essential life information. Aiming to achieve its goal of "understanding Hong Kong and understanding citizens," the system has been deeply optimized for local Hong Kong expressions, providing great convenience for citizens' in their daily lives.

LexiHK— It provides professional risk assessment and solutions for legal issues such as marriage, leasing, and consumer disputes. Users simply need to input the case details, and the system can automatically generate clear and easy-to-understand legal advice, helping citizens avoid potential risks and making legal services more accessible, thereby safeguarding citizens' rights and interests.

HKPilot— A multifunctional AI writing assistant tool designed to meet the diverse content creation needs across fields. Citizens can expand their ideas into complete documents using scenario-based templates, greatly simplifying the writing process and enabling efficient production of professional-level outputs.

HKMeeting — A tool that allows users to quickly grasp the overall discussion content of a meeting without the need for manual notetaking. It can automatically convert meeting audio content into text records, produce high-quality summaries, and generate meeting minutes, improving the efficiency and accuracy of compiling meeting records.

HKEcoLink— By integrating environmental science knowledge and hundreds of thousands of real-world environmental analysis cases, it can aggregate real-time data to perform a multi-dimensional correlation analysis, providing calculations on pollution distribution across the entire area and generating detailed environmental analysis reports and control suggestions.

Hum2Song— With just a 1-minute voice recording, the system can generate personalized song snippets for users in as little as 2 minutes, supporting Cantonese, English, and Mandarin singing. It accurately mimics vocal timbre and creates melodies, bringing joy to citizens' lives.

Prof. GUO Yike, HKUST Provost and Director of HKGAI , said, "By developing a variety of AI tools based on our advanced large AI model, we hope to make our inventions a valuable AI Buddy for Hong Kong citizens. We hope that HKGAI V1 will not only enhance the daily lives of Hong Kong citizens but also contribute to Hong Kong’s transformation into an AI-powered international hub for innovation and technology."

Organized by the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau of the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the InnoEX 2025 is being held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center from April 13 to 16. Interested parties are invited to visit booth 3E-B13 to experience HKGAI’s innovations and technologies.
