HKUST Innovations Shine at the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) today showcased its award-winning inventions, which were recognized at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva (Geneva Inventions Expo). The University's 62 participating teams won a total of 62 accolades, including 13 Gold Medals with Congratulations of the Jury, 20 Gold Medals, 20 Silver Medals, and 9 Bronze Medals. This year's achievements set a new record for the University and make it the highest-awarded higher education institution in Hong Kong.

HKUST Receives Government's Approval to Establish Two New InnoHK Research Centers
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is pleased to receive approval from the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) of the HKSAR Government to establish two new research centers under the third InnoHK research cluster, SEAM@InnoHK. The research centers will focus respectively on renewable energy and storage, as well as power semiconductors and related applications. These centers aim to drive innovation in green and low-carbon energy transition and advanced manufacturing, thereby supporting Hong Kong's alignment with the national 15th Five‑Year Plan's priorities on sustainability, while strengthening the city's strategic role in the new wave of global technological advancement.The two new HKUST-led research centers include:

Researchers at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have developed CarGAP, a groundbreaking chemo-optogenetic tool that uses vitamin B₁₂ and green light to precisely control gap junctions, the microscopic channels enabling direct cell-to-cell communication. This innovation allows on-demand closing and opening of these intercellular bridges, providing unprecedented spatiotemporal control over vital molecules and electrical signals. HKUST-led Hong Kong Space Robotics and Energy Centre Partners with Southeast University to Advance Deep Space Exploration Supporting the National Goal of Becoming an Aerospace Powerhouse
Led by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the Hong Kong Space Robotics and Energy Centre (HKSREC), under the InnoHK Research Clusters of the HKSAR Government, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Southeast University (SEU) to establish a long-term strategic partnership. The collaboration will focus on research innovation, technology transfer, and talent cultivation in the fields of space robotics, deep space energy systems, embodied intelligence, and related interdisciplinary areas, thereby contributing to the nation’s efforts to build a leading aerospace power.A delegation led by the Nanjing Municipal People's Government visited HKUST's Clear Water Bay campus on March 8. They engaged in an insightful discussion with the University’s management and representatives, and toured the State Key Laboratory of Displays and Optoelectronics, where HKUST's latest research innovations were showcased.

HKUST Actively Promotes "Study in Hong Kong" Brand and Supports Development of an International Education Hub
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), together with the other seven universities funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC), co-hosted the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) 2026 Conference and Exhibition (February 23-27). Through a variety of international education and collaboration activities, the University fully supported the concurrent "Study in Hong Kong" Week, echoing the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's initiative to strengthen the "Study in Hong Kong" brand and to foster Hong Kong's development as a global education hub and an international center for high-caliber talent. On February 5, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Yiyu Network formalized a donation agreement, marking the beginning of an enduring partnership dedicated to frontier research and talent nurturing.HKUST senior leadership and faculty members in attendance included Prof. Charles NG Wang-Wai, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement; Prof. XU Kun, Head and Chair Professor of the Department of Mathematics; and Prof. CHEN Kani, Professor in both the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics.
