The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) warmly welcomed a delegation from the Dieter Schwarz Foundation, led by Managing Director Prof. Dr. Gunther FRIEDL on December 10, for an exchange on innovation, sustainability, and future collaboration.

HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP and Provost Prof. GUO Yike hosted the delegation, engaging in discussions on the University’s latest initiatives including the upcoming establishment of the third medical school in Hong Kong. The Dieter Schwarz Foundation shared its impactful work in Germany, including the Bildungscampus in Heilbronn and the Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence (IPAI), which have become leading platforms for education, entrepreneurship, and applied research.

The visit also featured a tour organized by HKUST’s Sustainability/Net-Zero Office, where guests explored the University’s Sustainable Smart Campus projects. These initiatives showcase HKUST’s commitment to translating cutting-edge research into real-world solutions, spanning energy efficiency, net-zero strategies, and smart city applications.

The dialogue underscored the shared vision between HKUST and the Dieter Schwarz Foundation in harnessing innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship for global impact. Both institutions expressed strong interest in exploring collaborative opportunities that will empower future generations of innovators and strengthen international partnerships in science and technology.

HKUST is dedicated to building on this meaningful exchange to deepen ties with the Dieter Schwarz Foundation and advance joint initiatives that contribute to a more sustainable and innovative future.
