With a warm smile and larger than life personality, it is easy to see how Michael Leung leads the charge at his firm – a world leader in design and manufacturing of cutting-edge technologies, software and services for the professional construction industry. A personality that can put anyone at ease, his own journey from a young student growing up in Hong Kong’s own Kennedy Town to being the first Asian to lead a global company in Australia, he attributes much of his career success to his alma mater, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

生于基层家庭，科大校友曾建中（Terry）现任手机游戏公司 Madhead 的行政总裁，其代表作《神魔之塔》风靡无数玩家，下载量超过2,300万次，并与多部人气动画合作。尽管事业有成，Terry始终心系科大。 Terry身兼校友、校董会成员及捐款人，对科大情深义重。在他办公室里，他最珍视的是一封20年前的科大信函，记录着母校于他家逢变故时提供的紧急援助。 Terry拿着信件，回忆道：「爸爸在我快将毕业时突然离世，科大在我们最困难的时候伸出援手，向我们发放一笔紧急经济援助 。我一直铭记并感激科大对我们一家人的支持 。这封信至今仍放在我的办公桌上。」 Terry与同为科大校友的弟弟 Terence 一直心存感恩，并于2016年捐款成立「学生紧急援助基金」，帮助遭遇突发经济困难的学生，延续当年母校对他们的帮助。 被问到若时光能倒流，Terry还会选择入读科大吗？他的回答坚定有力：「当然一定会！」 让我们一起见证这位科大人如何将感恩化为传承，惠及更多学子。  

忠诚，是在默默奉献中淬炼而成的美德。香港科技大学（科大）的长期服务奖旨在向这份精神致敬。今年共有158位服务满20年或以上的同仁获奖，科大更首次颁发35年服务奖，表彰在大学创校前已加入、至今奉献了35个寒暑的元勋。他们的故事彰显了科大社群深厚的承诺与归属感，为科大今天的成就贡献了不可或缺的力量。让我们一同认识其中三位杰出的长期服务奖得主。  默默的脊梁 黄启邦 • 学务长办公室支持助理 • 服务35载   回溯科大的发展历程，鲜有人比黄启邦的足迹更早烙印于此。现任学务长办公室支持助理的他，18岁便加入科大，亲历科大的创校过程，并见证了无数重大里程碑。 「在大学早期筹备阶段，我曾在中环和尖沙咀的临时办公室工作。」启邦回想当年，大学奠基仪式的现场盛况至今仍历历在目。科大正式开校以来，他便扎根清水湾校园，主要于学生事务处任职。

三十多年来，媚姐的身影一直默默穿梭于科大校园，用体贴入微的真诚服务串联起几代科大人的集体回忆。媚姐任职于科大中餐厅南北小厨，三十年如一日地迎接客人、冲茶备餐，这些看似平凡的日常，早已成为她与科大师生校友建立感情的独特方式，凝聚科大社群。 自创校初期便加入科大中餐厅的媚姐，见证了大学逐步发展成今天这所卓越学府的历程。她的贡献远不止于一名普通员工，她用温度和态度默默滋养着科大这个大家庭，让科大人在袅袅茶香间获得家的温暖。 在本次专访中，媚姐细数她在科大的点滴岁月，分享珍贵回忆和深厚情谊。她的故事让我们明白，每一分贡献都能留下印记，筑就科大团结友爱的社群。请即观看媚姐与科大的故事！

Alumni Reunion of Risk Management and Business Intelligence Program (RMBI) was held on 3 July 2018. We are delighted hold the first RMBI reunion to gather RMBI alumni back together to enjoy a great and cozy evening with faculty members and current students.

IPO Student Ambassadors gathered at year-end dinner to share their outreach experience.

Eager to play a part in helping HKUST’s local and overseas students cross cultural barriers and get to know each other better, a group of Year 3 business students launched the “Be Our Guest” dinner hosting program, an initiative which won them the President’s 1-HKUST Student Life Award. If you want to break the ice between local and overseas students and learn more about each other’s cultures, what better way to do it than by sharing food together? Better still, why not make it a truly authentic experience by hosting the meal at a student’s own home, round a big table Chinese-style? This was the thought that struck Jason Yuen after he joined the Exchange Buddy programme in Year 1 at HKUST and decided to invite two German and Russian students home for dinner. “There were lots of funny moments, but overall it worked very well,” he recalls.  “I wondered whether we could make it into a regular program”.
